DeArrius "Dee" Rhymes, the Hazlehurst High School Class of 2017 President, desires to do his part in giving to future generation of scholars.

The DeArrius Rhymes Presidential Scholarship (DRPS) was created to aid Hazlehurst High School seniors who plan on furthering their education at any 2-year or 4-year college in the state of Mississippi.

Mr. Rhymes achieved his goal  becoming Salutatorian. By the same toke, he understands obtaining first place can only become a reality for one scholar. 

Moreover, the DRPS presents a golden opportunity to highlight more than one future leader each year by awarding two scholars with $500 scholarships.

Ultimately, Mr. Rhymes is hopeful that his scholarship will always serves as a motivator and an incentive for each scholar to reach for the stars and pursue their academic goals in college!

Beyond giving this incentive, DeArrius also seeks to build a mentorship with and through each recipient in efforts to inspire academic greatness within the Hazlehurst community.
